I think it may be that these are the best two colors for the Sweep and Keep archetype, which may be one of my (not so) secret faves

While Blogatog might lead us to believe that silver-bordered sets have a wide audience, I have a simple piece of (admittedly anecdotal) evidence to suggest the contrary: I Have Never Seen a Silver-Bordered Card in Play I've been playing since 1995 or so, and despite being an active Magic player in middle school, when Unglued came out, I have never bought a single pack of silver-bordered cards

Cards like Soul Warden , Serra Ascendant , or even incidental lifelink turn this into a snowball thats hard to stop once it starts

You find them for the recent set like a bundle of Edge of Eternities at big box stores and at a nice price point
