Wizards of the Coast took a technique used in its Japanese trading card game Duel Masters and printed text on both sides of the card to represent people transforming into monsters and back again (something that happens alarmingly regularly in Innistrad)
But it mitigated the potentially dead draw of a bad erase to the point that Kai splashed a second color essentially only for it
I think that's the proper lens to evaluate Modal Double-Faced Cards
A bonus that would only apply if it was equipped to a God might have been nice
