I think that having disruption makes the game more interesting: you have to account for it when deckbuilding (dont play a deck with 35 Items if Item lock is popular!), and it offers ways to make the game less straightforward than a simple Prize race
I like stuff like Karmic Guide or Sun Titan for pure value, but you could also lean toward things like Angel of Despair, from above, or Nekrataal or something big like Avacyn, Angel of Hope or another forceful beater
While it does have a once per turn limiter, that wont stop you from getting insane value
